Over the years, it has grown into one of the most popular gaming platforms in the world, with millions of daily active users under the age of 13 and more than $2.1 billion in gross profits. Its success relies heavily on high user engagement and social interactions.

What Is Child Sexploitation, and What is the Roblox Child Sexploitation About?
Sextortion is a form of cybercrime where an individual threatens to distribute private, sensitive, or sexually explicit images or videos of someone, often obtained through deception or coercion, if the victim does not comply with their demands.
In the context of Roblox, or any online platform, this often unfolds as follows:
1. Grooming
A predator (the extorter) befriends a child or teen online, often building trust over time through seemingly innocent conversations.
2. Obtaining Content
The extorter manipulates the victim into creating or sharing private, often explicit, images or videos of themselves. This might happen directly through chat, by luring them to another platform (like Discord or Snapchat), or by exploiting vulnerabilities in games/experiences.
3. Threat and Demands
Once the extortionist has this sensitive content, they threaten to publicly expose it (share it with friends, family, school, or post it online) unless the victim meets their demands. These demands can include:
- Sending more explicit content.
- Sending money or virtual currency (like Robux).
- Performing sexual acts on camera.
- Keeping the interaction secret.
4. Ongoing Coercion
The cycle often continues, with the extorter making new demands once previous ones are met, trapping the victim in a terrifying loop.
The Roblox child sexploitation litigation is about holding Roblox accountable for putting profits over child safety. Roblox, through its defective and woefully inadequate safety features, gives adult sexual predators access to groom and prey on innocent children.
How Could This Type of Abuse Occur on a Platform Like Roblox?
Roblox’s reckless business operations, deceptive marketing, and inadequate safety protocols created an ideal hunting ground for adult predators seeking access to innocent children.
Roblox provided minimal barriers to entry by offering free downloads across multiple devices and requiring only a birthdate, username, and password for sign-up; no phone number or email verification needed. Roblox had no age verification system, allowing users to enter any birthdate regardless of accuracy, and no minimum age requirement. While Roblox stated children need parental permission, it took no steps to verify or confirm such permission was obtained.
Perhaps more disturbing, users who registered as adults could freely “friend” and directly communicate with users whose dates of birth indicated they were minors.
What Are the Lawsuit Allegations?
The main allegations include, but are not limited to:
- Roblox deceptively marketed itself as safe for children when it is not.
- Roblox failed to implement safety measures to keep child users safe from sexual predators.
- Roblox failed to warn child users and their parents about the dangerous conditions of their platform.
- Roblox misrepresented its existing safety features.

On February 1, 2026, over 500 families represented in Roblox and Discord-related child safety litigation issued open letters pleading for accountability as a response to the companies’ desire for arbitration, a private, out-of-court process where claims are settled confidentially by a third party.
This process, should it happen, would allow for Roblox and Discord’s conduct to avoid scrutiny.
